International Patients - Dental Treatment in Singapore

Dental Tourism is an increasingly important segment of the medical tourism market. According to a 2007 survey by Healthcare Tourism International, dental procedures were the most commonly searched terms by American medical travelers looking for medical treatment in other countries.

Specialist Dental Group (Henry Lee Dental Surgery) has been treating international patients for almost 30 years. Many of our patients come from countries as diverse as Australia, USA, UK, Russia, Mongolia, Fiji, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia. Expatriates in Singapore and in nearby countries also make up our clinic’s patient base.

Why Come to Singapore for Dental Treatment?

  • Peace of Mind
    • Our dentists have received international training and admission as Fellows or Diplomates of the various professional bodies in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. The standard of care and experience of dental professionals in Singapore is generally very high. One can rest assured that one is in good hands when seeing a Singapore dentist.
    • The use of modern and cutting edge equipment and stringent sterilization practices in the clinic also give more peace of mind when going to a Singapore dental clinic. Our sterilization protocol meets the requirements of the American Dental Association. Your safety is our focus.

    • Singapore is strategically located in the Asia Pacific region and easily accessible by air from many neighboring countries.

How Do I Select A Dentist?

Whether you are a local or an international patient, one key concern is the same – how do you know that you have selected the right dentist? Similar to any other form of medical treatment, the most important consideration is for your dental procedure to be done once and done right. It is, therefore, important to receive care from experienced internationally certified/trained clinicians at a modern facility.

    Factors to Consider
  • Actively Engaged in Professional Development. Scientific knowledge is rapidly expanding minute by minute. It is important that your doctor is actively engaged in continuous education programs to learn new and updated procedures. It will be even better if your dentist has been in the position of teaching other professionals these new procedures.
  • Contribution to Academic Advancement. Academic appointments at reputable universities, involvement on statutory specialty boards, serving as a specialty board examiner, publication of scientific articles, and serving on the editorial board of international professional journals also indicates that your doctor is among the top of his/her field internationally.
  • Modern Facilities and Equipment. A dentist can only perform at a top level in a modern facility. Up-to-date clinical facilities and professional equipment also indirectly reflect the willingness of the dentist in maintaining a high standard of care.
  • Trust and Confidence in the Dentist. An important consideration is also your own level of comfort with the dentist – is this someone whom you can trust to take good care of your dental needs? Are you comfortable with him or her? Is the dentist willing to give you some alternatives to treatment and explain the benefits and risks of such treatment?

No Surcharge for International Patients

Our clinic does not believe in imposing a surcharge on international patients – both local and international patients are charged the same rate.
